Cades Cove
http://www.cadescove.net/auto_tour.html
Yesterday Yvonne and I drove to Cades Cove and did the auto tour loop, an eleven mile one-way trip. While a bit cloudy we did see turkey, deer and a fascinating pair of woodpecker that entertained us for a while. If you are ever in the area take the drive.
On a totally different topic — I was most impressed with this article and at the same time disgusted by the incident. Eliminating prejudice is more than “being tolerant” as is so well expressed in this article by Seema Jilani http://www.huffingtonpost.com/seema-jilani/racism-white-house-correspondents-dinner_b_3231561.html

i really love this photo. all those lines and the rows of mountains. really gorgeous. glad you had fun.
That is a place I really want to visit. I’m glad you didn’t see any bears, but I really do want to see one!
That article makes me ashamed to live in this country.
Me too. @gottobereal64 -
I have seen bears there but not yesterday. Early morning or evening times are best for viewing animals. @gottobereal64 -
gorgeous pic. as usual
Lovely photo.
I read the article. If I were in her situation, I would start collecting names and badges and sue the security company for damages as well as the offenders personally. I would raid their 401(k) and checking account and send them to the impoverished gutter where they belong. This is America – You wrong me, I take your shit.
Interesting article. I was talking to my friend last night about how I found US people to be cold, distant and rude (in person I mean) while visiting my parents when my dad was presiding OAS years ago and I was wondering if my appreciation was just cuz the way they are towards me as I’m clearly hispanic…
My parents on the other hand never felt it, specially my mom, she constantly talks about how lovely people was towards her and how she can’t believe the stories of racism or exclusion cuz she never felt it… I guess it’s is different if you’re a diplomat preceded everywhere by your protocol manager :
Truth is Idk if I’d have felt alienated either if it wasn’t cuz I have my own set of grudges and prejudism against US though, something to ponder about.
You go to the most beautiful places and see such interesting things! Thanks for taking us along in your photos and words!
That links sounds very good…I’ll check it out!

HUGS!!!
PS…if I promise to sit still in the back seat, not kick the front seat, and be quiet…can I go on your next trip?!
so you went for your sunday drive? remember when we used to do that?
The mist on the mountains is beautimus (unlike the article which makes me so angry and ashamed of the behavior of those security men)
Cades Cove looks like a peaceful place. I will have to check out that article.
Well, it is nice, but you have so much beauty in CA. Glad you stopped by. @queenie -
glad you checked out the article. I especially liked a couple of things she said like it is more than mere tolerance that we should aspire to although in my mind even that would be an improvement from what I see. @murisopsis -
It was a Wed. drive. Sunday is so crowded. @Texasjillcarmel -
Sure but I expect you will misbehave anyway and that would be okay too. @adamswomanback -
I have a feeling we would be human to human together if we ever would meet. I have often said that one of my values was tolerance and what I liked about her article is that more than mere tolerance is expected. @meddwl -
@vexations - but you remember going with dad and the rest of the family for the sunday drive ? back in the 50′s “see the U.S.A. in your Chevrolet.”
